Terms & Conditions

  1. Company vehicles are insured for business purposes only. No passengers other than the staff are permitted.
  2. The company reserves the right to refuse the job if the customer behavior is abusive or unacceptable at any stage.
  3. Emergency overnight storage charges are £150 plus re-delivery charges.
  4. 25% of the agreed price will be charged upon confirmation of booking; the remaining 75% will have to be paid prior to departure from the “moving from” address.
  5. It is customer responsibility to provide parking on both ends. Any parking penalty or penalties issued to our vehicles will be included in final invoice.
  6. The service is strictly from the “moving from” to “moving to” address. No intermediate destination will be entertained unless agreed in the job.
  7. Any item found to be missing, lost, broken or damaged must be brought to the attention of the supervisor during or at the end of the job. If this is not done, the company shall not be held responsible.
  8. Items with special fittings from manufacturer will not be dismantled or assembled.
  9. If keys are achieved not on time and the removals crew is forced to wait, there will be £79.00 per hour charge for waiting time.
  10. Any additional items to those declared at the time of quotation, may result in a change in price.
  11. Packing materials will be additional to the removal quote unless agreed at the time of quotation.
  12. The company has the right to take full payment at any time during the day of move. All payments should be made before unloading at “moving to” address.
  13. Company does not accept responsibility of damage caused due to design of the property by height, length and width of any large items being moved in or out.
  14. Payments can be made by bank transfer, cheque or cash.
    1. Payment by cheque: an additional 3.5% fee will be charged if payment is made by cheque. All cheques must be paid at least 7 days before the day of removal.
    2. Bank transfer: must be paid at least 7 days before the day of removal.
  15. Non Payments

  16. If the customer is unable to pay for the service on the day of move after all the items have been loaded onto the vehicle(s), the items shall be taken to storage and shall only be released once payment has been made in full.
  17. If items are taken to storage due to non payment, the customer shall be liable for the cost of storage.
  18. If the items are taken to storage due to non payment, the customer shall be liable for re-delivery costs.
  19. If items are taken to storage due to non payment, customer item should be held for 28 days. If payment is not received during this period, CapitalOne Removals Ltd reserves the right to auction the items and use the proceeds to cover the outstanding cost.
  20. 3% per day will be charged if for any reason the payment is not cleared on the day of removals unless otherwise agreed.
  21. Claims

  22. No compensation for damage will be paid if the company has not undertaken any packaging work.
  23. Customers are advised to take their own content insurance in place as any damage to the goods or property during packing, unpacking, dismantling and re assembly will not be entertained.
  24. No claims for any damages will be entertained if part or self loading.
  25. Customers are advised to take the option of buying Goods in Transit insurance (GIT). In the absence of GIT Insurance the company will not be responsible for any damage if the vehicle is involved in any accident.
  26. In the event of making an insurance claim for the loss or damage of your goods, your claim shall be subject to the following excess:
    1. For insurance value of £0 - £15,000 excess: £300
    2. For insurance value of £15,001 - £30,000 excess: £400
    3. For insurance value of £30,000 + excess: £600
  27. Claims due to negligence will be dealt with according to company procedure, such that the customer will need to send details of the issue in writing to the company address or email within 48 hours of the incident. The company shall deal with the matter within 28 days of receipt of notification of incident. Any claim after this period will not be accepted.
    1. Customer shall not be permitted to deduct money from the total amount.
  28. The company shall not be held responsible for any inconvenience or loss caused by circumstances beyond the control of company such as adverse weather, vehicle breakdown etc
  29. DAMAGE TO PREMISES OR PROPERTY OTHER THAN GOODS

  30. Because third party contractors are frequently present at the time of collection or delivery, our liability for loss or damage is limited as follows:
    1. If we cause loss or damage to premises or property other than goods for removal as a result of our negligence or breach of contract, our liability shall be limited to making good the damaged area only provided that we are not liable for the first £250 of any claim.
      N.B: We do understand by any claim: claim for damage to goods, premises or property.
    2. If we cause damage as a result of moving goods under your express instruction, against our advice, and where to move the goods in the manner instructed is likely to cause damage, we shall not be liable.
    3. If we are responsible for causing damage to your premises or to property other than goods submitted for removal and/or storage, you must note this on the worksheet or delivery receipt as soon as practically possible or within a reasonable time. This is fundamental to the Agreement.
  31. EXCLUSIONS OF LIABILITY

  32. In respect of our liability, we will not be liable for loss of or damage to your goods as a result of non delivery or mis delivery, unless we have been negligent.
  33. We shall not be liable for loss or damage caused by fire or explosion. It is your responsibility to insure your goods against fire or explosion.
  34. We will not be liable for any loss of, damage to, or failure to produce the following goods:
    1. Bonds, Securities, Stamps of all kinds, Manuscripts or other Documents or Electronically held Data Records, Mobile Telephones
    2. Plants or goods likely to encourage vermin or other pests or to cause infestation or contamination
    3. Perishable items and/or those requiring a controlled environment
    4. Furs exceeding £100 in value, Jewellery, Watches, Precious Stones and Metals, Money, Coins, Deeds
    5. Any animals, birds or fish
  35. We will not be liable for any loss of, damage to, or failure to produce the goods if caused by any of the following circumstances:
    1. By war, invasion, acts of foreign enemies, hostilities (whether war is declared or not), civil war, terrorism, rebellion and/or military coup, Act of God, fires, flood, tempest or other adverse weather conditions, industrial action or other such events outside our reasonable control
    2. Loss or damage arising from Chemical, Biological, Bio-chemical, Radioactive, Electromagnetic activity and or weapons and Cyber Attack
    3. Perishable items and/or those requiring a controlled environment
    4. Indirect or consequential loss of any kind or description including loss of profits; business interruptions; loss of contracts; or loss of revenue whatsoever and howsoever arising
    5. By normal wear and tear, natural or gradual deterioration, leakage or evaporation or from perishable or unstable goods. This includes goods left within furniture or appliances
    6. By vermin, moth, insects and similar infestation, damp, mould, mildew or rust
    7. By cleaning, repairing or restoring unless we arranged for the work to be carried out
    8. By change to atmospheric or climatic conditions such as dampness, mould, mildew, rusting, tarnishing, corrosion or gradual deterioration unless directly linked to ingress of water
    9. For any goods in wardrobes, drawers or appliances, or in a package, bundle, carton, case or other container not both packed and unpacked by us
    10. Loss of or damage to china, glassware and fragile items unless they have been both professionally packed and unpacked by us or our Subcontractor. In the event of an accident involving an owner packed container where damage would have occurred irrespective of the quality of the packing, then our liability is limited to £100 or its actual value whichever is less
    11. For electrical or mechanical derangement to any appliance, instrument, clock, computer or other equipment unless there is evidence of related external damage
    12. Loss or damage of motor vehicles caused by scratching, denting and marring unless you obtain from us a pre-collection condition report
    13. Loss or damage to a vehicle whilst being driven or for the purpose of being driven under its own power other than for the purpose of loading onto or unloading from the carrying conveyance or container. Loss or damage sustained by accessories and removable items unless lost with the vehicle
    14. For any goods which have a pre-existing defect or are inherently defective
    15. For any goods not delivered or mis–delivered
    16. For complying with any acts, regulations, bye laws, orders or restrictions imposed by any government or authority (public or local)
    17. Theft of any goods
  36. No staff member shall be separately liable to you for any loss, damage, mis-delivery, errors or omissions under these terms
  37. Our liability will cease upon handing over goods from our warehouse or upon completion of delivery
  38. GOODS THAT WE WILL NOT ACCEPT FOR REMOVAL OR STORAGE

  39. Company will happily move and store most items that you may wish to submit for removals or storage. However the company is subject to certain clauses below, unable to accept in normal course of business:
    1. Any living thing including any animals, fish and plants.
    2. Any goods those are likely to encourage vermin or other pests or to cause infestation.
    3. Any goods that require special license.
    4. Any good that require government permission to import or export.
    5. Any stolen, prohibited or illegal goods.
    6. Any food or drink that needs to be frozen or refrigerated.
    7. Any money, securities, financial or legal documents, including but not limited to share certificates and leases.
    8. Any goods that are potentially dangerous, explosives or flammable.
    9. Customers must carry with them handbags, laptops, jewelry, watches and mobile phones.
  40. Electrical and gas appliances will not be disconnected or unplugged by our staff.
  41. When we state packing material included in the quote, this includes: standard boxes, wrapping paper and packing tape only.
  42. The following packing materials are not included unless previously agreed and shall be charged for additionally: wardrobe boxes, cling film and bubble wrap.
  43. If company issues a quote based on our price beat policy, we request that the customer forward us the rival quote, otherwise the original quotation given by us shall apply.
